Sisterhood

The women of Beth El seek to walk with a deep consciousness of our role as necessary transmitters into the present era of godly life and Jewish continuity, balanced by the ever-present need for ‘takkanah’ (revision) in line with the needs of our generation. We come to serve our God and our People with those gifts over which the Eternal has given us charge – our very selves.

In our generation, as the modern Messianic Jewish awakening matures, we seek to affirm the unique worth of the individual woman in the context of godly community. We do this by walking in a balance of vertical commitments (“love the Lord your God”) and horizontal commitments (“love your neighbor”).

We are devoted to …

  • studying and praying together

  • fostering loving and deliberate social connection with one another

  • developing mutual compassion and supportiveness within our synagogue and our surrounding community

  • interacting with the New York Jewish community as women of faith

  • serving the needs of Eretz Yisrael (the Land of Israel)welcoming ‘women of calling’ (ger-oht) who are born outside the Jewish fold, but feel to varying degrees a linkage of their own destiny with Jewish nation.

Beth El’s Sisterhood seeks in all our activities to promote intimacy with our Creator, deep fellowship with other women of faith, and continuity with the heritage of Jewish Two-Testament faith.

Please do come and visit us! We look forward to seeing you in synagogue and at Sisterhood events.
